Will it ever end?
Following one of the most inconvenient, injury-laden weeks in recent memory, another major UFC star is hurt, and another fight is on the shelf. As first reported by Sportsnet MMA analyst “Showdown” Joe Ferraro, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury, and has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 149 main event bout against Erik Koch.
Rather than find a replacement to face Koch, UFC officials have opted to move one of two championship bouts from UFC 148, bringing the interim bantamweight title fight between TUF Live coach Urijah Faber and Renan Barao to Calgary, maintaining a championship caliber fight on the first ever UFC card in Alberta.
MMAConvert will have more on this ridiculous string of injuries as they develop.
